Unreal Cappadoccia

To reach Cappadoccia, you first have to fly to Istanbul ( ans I guess it is almost the same for everybody who’s not coming directly from Turkey). That means: despite of the facet that it is only 4 hours flight for my home it takes around 7 hours to reach Kayseri airport.

If you have never been there before I really suggest you to stop in Istanbul (you can read my article about this beautiful city).

After this long evening we are finally on our way to Goreme, let’s say to touristic town of Cappadoccia.

It’s 3am local time, I can only see some shadows of the bug rocks, the sky is full of stars, and the air is cold already.

We arrived at our first hotel The Miras hotel around 4am.

Day 1:

I was so excited about being there that I hardly felt asleep at 5am and missed my alarm at 7am… and I was so sad because at this moment I realized that Ballons are only relying in the morning!!!

Hopefully we were there for more than one night, stupid me!

So when we woke up at 10am obviously there were no more balloons :/

I was so sad!

We took a quick turkish breakfast and Started to explore Gorgeme.

We were so surprised and happy to realize that even though Cappadoccia is now so famous on social medias, the place is still so quiet !!! Just above our hotel was the view point so we just went to bit up and discovered this amazing view

Up there, only us, a soft wind, and the view.

It was so relaxing! We are always working like crazy and running that being together in the nature and enjoying these moments was magical.

If you are following me also on Instagram you might know that this travel was a gift from my husband that he offered me on our wedding day.

Truth is, I was in Turkey for the first time on 2003 and since this day I was drawing to go to Cappadoccia (at this time it was too far from Izmir were I stayed on holidays)

Years have passed, 15 years later, I was finally there!

We spent around 4 hours up there, enjoying the views, every corner was different, all these rocks make it so unreal. i’ve never seen a landscape like this before (maybe, some some ways, it looks a bit like Bruce Canyon) but every places are different of course!

We took a Granada juice and continue our way down to the Center of Goreme.

I loved it so much in Istanbul so I was so happy to see these cute lamp and carpets shops! Of course they are so instagrammable and we had to take a few pictures!

Time goes so fast when you travel, it as almost 5 hours and we din’t eat the whole day (you know how men are always hungry right?!)

Then, while climbing the other side of Goreme we stopped to eat in a cute Turkish restaurant (I love Turkish food! )

We ended our day in the beautiful Sultan Caves Suite Hotel’s terrace, shared some moments with the cutest puppy ever named Izmir, get a turkish coffee and a Shisha while watching the sun goes down and sky turning pink!

Day 2

The second day we woke up at 5.15 am to catch the sunrise by Quad.

What an experience!!!

It was so cold and I don’t know why we didn’t take any coat with us when we left France!

Also, driving in the desert makes lots of dust so we had to wear a surprising uniform!

We starts driving and the spectacle was stunning!!!

All the balloons were starting to go up in the sky around us, the light was coming brighter and brighter, colors were changing, it is so beautiful.

And because images are better than words:

We stopped at 3 points to admire the balloons rides! It was a funny experience but to be honest I would not recommend to do it if your goal is to take pictures!

You are driving in the dust, which is not so good for your camera) and don’t expect to be on top for a picture LOL

But we enjoyed it and it was the first time my hubby was driving  quad (I experienced it a long time ago in Egypt!)

After a warm tea and a good breakfast we booked the air ballons ride for the next day.

We really didn’t know if it was worth doing it or if seen it from the ground was maybe better, but my hubby really wanted us to do it.

So I’ll talk about it on the next day chapter.

It was only 11am so we decided to walk until the open air museum.

People told us it was worth going to see it.

We didn’t want to take tours as I always prefer to be free to stop anywhere I want and I love walking! That’s the reason why, we always take 3 hours to make 1,5km

The way to reach the open air museum from our hotel was interesting and has so many views.

Once again, it is my point f view, but I didn’t really like the open air museum.

I mean, you can see inside very old churches, it is interesting to discover 1 or 2, but all the museum is about this! It was very crowded (the most crowded place ‘I’ve seen in cappadoccia with the Love valley)

So we decided to leave this place and explore the valley around and we found some nice sports while being alone (haha what I love)

Then, we took a taxi to go to Zefve

Do you also have this feeling sometimes when you travel?

You arrive to a place and you are amazed by everything you see, and 2 days later, you discover an amazing place and you are like « ok, rocks again » hahaha

After a short walk for 1 hour we went back in Goreme and found a perfect place to try turkish Mezze and delicious turkish wine.

Day 3, 4 and 5

This day, we woke up at 4. 45 to finally make our ride in the hotel air balloons.

We arrived at the base point, it is really interesting to see how they set up the balloon!

OK, so, I am afraid of fire, and afraid of high, I really didn’t know how I would feel with this experience!!!

Once the balloon was ready we all went in, they explain to landing position and we went up…

The day was slowly beginning but the sun was still down… it was really magical.

We were at bit afraid to be disappointed of being to high and only be able to see the land from very high but the ride was amazing!!! We flew between the rocks, next to the other balloons, we saw the sun going up and after the sunrise the balloon went at 2000 meters from the ground.

Up there, there is no sound, it was a speechless experience.

After this magical ride it was time to move up to Uschisar and relax at the beautiful Museum hotel during 3 days.

Uschizar is just ( kilometers away from Goreme (just a bit higher) the view from this city is beautiful and what to say about the view from the wonderful Museum Hotel…

I was dreaming to go to this place for sooo long, once again a long time before Instagram made it so famous, because I am a big fan of the Relais & Chateaux hotels.

We had a Cave Suite with a Jacuzzi and the bathroom that they all prepared for our Romantic getaway… (Haha I burnt my hair while doing this picture !!!)

The museum Hotel Pool is just stunning, and its view too. From there you can see the crater and the desert all around.

At sunset, the moon came out, and look at this…

Isn’t it wonderfull?

The food at the restaurant was super yummy!!! We didn’t leave this place during these 3 days!!!

Except to make a little walk into Uschisar village and see the view from higher!

As every morning in Cappadoccia turns into a fairy tale, I don’t need to mention that it was the same from the museum Hotel.

We had the chance to experience the Special Breakfast that they prepared just for us the last morning.

A true fairy tale!!!
